Preparing your MIND for a Healthy Lifestyle

Congratulations! You’ve taken a wonderful first step toward a healthy lifestyle: You have DECIDED or recommitted to live healthier!
Success is something you decide ahead of time.
But let’s face it. We’ve all been here before. We decide to make changes, eat better, get to the gym, and something happens. We get sick, or our day gets so busy we miss our workout, or a meeting gets scheduled during lunch and all of a sudden we’re starving and the only option is the vending machine or fast food restaurant on the corner. And just like that, our healthy lifestyle is derailed. Again.
As a health and wellness coach, I speak with women all the time just like you and me, who have good intentions, but somehow either sabotage themselves or get sidetracked as life – and the people in it – have a different agenda.
When we embark on a healthy lifestyle, sometimes we skip the most important step: preparing our mind. Think of our mind as another muscle that we train.
The body achieves what the mind believes.
Our thoughts, actions, beliefs, and results are all intertwined around a healthy mindset. Here are some of my top tips for preparing your mind for a healthy lifestyle.

Define Healthy


Fitness and being a mommy- kinda goes hand in hand huh? LOL Yeah right! I think the biggest problem is that moms just don’t have enough time! We make time for EVERYONE else: our kids, our spouses and our bosses! So where is the time for us? Let alone, the time to go workout? But look at Halle Berry- she has some kids, she has job.. she HAD a spouse lol. BUT she also a trainer and probably a nanny! I on the other am my own personal trainer and a nanny!! So what’s a fantabulous mom like us supposed to do? Here is the first thing- let yourself know it’s ok that you are not in the gym everyday! BUT also tell yourself- I MUST do something! ok so now we have that out of the way- let’s get down to business!

  1. We all have the same hours in a day we can’t make any extra hours- if you can PLEASE tell me how! So let’s take a look at our day how can we incorporate SOME form of physical activity? When you park your car at work, take the stairs up to the lobby not the elevator!
  2. What about at home? Think you need to head out to the gym? Think again! there are plenty of great phone apps that allows you to actually work out daily at home!
  3. On the weekends check to see if your area has a nature trail that you and the family can head to!

As long as you are doing SOMETHING that is much better than nothing! We need to come out of thinking- in order for me to be physically fit I have to go to the gym!  Let’s get creative and get healthy at the same time!

Who are you? Can you tell me about you?

We often get caught up in a name, a race, or even someone’s perception. Who you are can never be questioned, if YOU truly know.

Who we are has been a part of us since our beginnings. It has been modified by life’s experiences, other’s expectations and society’s perceptions. We must learn, accept and live our true identity. To do this we must, tap into our subconscious so we can find what it is “we” truly want out of this life of ours. Not what we think others want or expect of us, but what we expect of ourselves. Take a moment or moments and write down your responses to the following questions,

What do you love most about you? Someone in your life? This should be what motivates you, makes you happy, etc.

What is your purpose in life? This should reflect what you would do, places you would go, things you would say just for the love of it.

Who are you afraid of losing once your true identity is revealed? This list maybe short or long, however, this person may possibly be preventing you from being you and needs to be removed from your life. Surround yourself with people who bring out your best, which is “YOU”.

Once you’ve responded, you can start your journey of learning, accepting and living in our true identity by knowing who you are. You are allowed to change whatever you want about you, as long as you’re doing it for you. You matter, you are enough, and you always come first. Click To Tweet
